Breathe Life

 

Hi Friends!

 

I haven't posted in about a month due to life getting crazy amidst a recent situation with my sister-in-law, Holly.

 

This is her. Isn't she lovely?

 

Precious Holly suffered a brain stem stoke on December 29, 2012. The damage to her brain from the stoke was devastating, and the neurologist said that she was more then likely brain dead, but that there was a slight chance that she still had brain activity.

 

The following day, we began to see minor improvements with Holly's ocular functioning and a few days later, a nurse that was working with her was able to get Holly to actually respond to yes or no answers through blinking (two blinks for yes, one blink for no).

 

This was very comforting to hear and let us know that she was still in there!

 

After about 2 weeks in the ICU, Holly was moved to a rehab facility, where she is currently. In the last few weeks, we have seen major improvements in Holly that we were told were not possible. She is slowly coming back and has been working with a communication board to help her spell out answered to questions ouside of the "yes" and "no".

 

Holly is a miracle and a living example of the resilience and determination of the human brain and body.

 

Holly and her husband, Kris, have 3 precious kiddos: Abigal, Ethan, and Callie.

 

These guys are the epitome of JOY.

 

We know that the Lord has a plan for this sweet family, and I am writing this post for that reason only. That the Lord be glorified in every word, action, and decision that takes place throughout this process. I also ask that you pray fervently with me for total restoration and healing, and that the Lord blesses Holly and the entire family with peace, understanding, strength, and continued faithfulness.
