Normally, Christmas Eve consists of a spicy cajun gumbo, presents, and too many desserts at my mom's house, but this year is a little different. Since my mom moved out of state, my sister and I and our husbands have had to improvise a little bit and create new Christmas traditions!
My sister and her hubs will be going out of town for Christmas, so we decided to do Christmas and dinner with them this past Friday night!
Spending time with my sis and her Mr. ANY night is pretty much my favorite, but when you throw Christmas in there...oh.what.fun.
I did decide to keep my mom's gumbo tradition alive and served up a hearty bowl full of delicious sausage, chicken, shrimp, spices, peppers, and rice.
I make a pretty stellar roux if I do say so myself :)
After a fantastic night of food, family, gifts, and a little too much wine, we all crashed with full bellies and hearts.
Saturday morning, my sister and I woke up early to get a little bit of Christmas shopping done before meeting our men at Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen for brunch.
I ordered the Bagel BLT, which was amazing. The perfect mix of breakfast and lunch!
The rest of the day consisted of baking and getting ready for Christmas round 2 with Brent's side of the family later that night.
Today, I woke up, straightened up the house, made cookie dough, ate some cereal, then laced up the running shoes. I covered 14 miles in 2 hours, and all I could think about the whole time was how much I wanted a Zico chocolate coconut water.
Seriously guys, I have a problem.
Nova loves him some coconut water, too.
But he also ate my TOMS today, so that's not saying much.
Here is my normal, post-run snack attack line-up. Sugar, salt, protein, done.
This evening was spent relaxing, eating leftover gumbo, aaaannnddd more baking! Shocker.
I made Holiday S'more Cookies with a White Chocolate Glaze tonight and they are DANGEROUS. I will post the recipe tomorrow!
Are you finished with your Christmas shopping?
I need to be, but I just keep finding little things here and there that I know so-and-so would just LOVE. But the Mr. told me that I can't come home with any more shopping bags, so I guess I am finished...or just need more trunk space.
Happy Christmas Eve Eve! You are loved!!!

Gumbo looks delicious!!!!! Merry Christmas, sweet Emily!!!!
