Austin Eats & MORE...

I.love.Austin.

I must say that I'm not totally in love with Texas (I know...scandalous), but I am SO in love when I'm in Austin.

Is that bad? Proud Texans are probably closing down my blog as we speak.

Anywho, the Mr. and I were there this past weekend for his birthday and it was EPIC. For only a 2.5 hour drive, it always makes for the best little getaway.

While we were there, we made it a point to stop by Gordough's.

This place has gotten rave reviews, and you know what? Everyone is right. These doughnuts are just incredible.

I ordered the "Miss Shortcake", which is a simple, gloriously fried ball of dough, topped with a mountain of cream cheese frosting and fresh sliced strawberries.

Holy heavens this was good. Like...I need a moment...good.

Brent ordered the "Porky's", which was definitely a switch in flavors from the Miss Shortcake, but just as insane. This was the same fluffy, fried dough ball, topped with cream cheese frosting, jalapeno jelly, and Canadian bacon.

Sounds disgusting, right? NO. Not at all.

Nom.

We decided to hotel hop a bit while in Austin. Our first two nights were spent at the Kimber Modern in SoCo. This hotel was incredible. You should definitely stay here.

Our last night was spent at Barton Creek Resort & Golf Club, which was completely different than Kimber Modern, but still very nice.

Brent has been wanting to play their golf course for some time now, so our last morning in Austin was spent out on their beautiful course.

We also spotted these guys on the 18th hole! Such a fun surprise.

This barely scratches the surface of what we did and ate while in Austin, so I have listed our hotels, activities, and eats at the bottom of this post. These are MUSTS if you are ever in this area!

And here is a lovely iPhone picture of my "back to reality" overnight oats breakfast at my desk this morning. It was topped with Justin's Maple Almond Butter, which helped ease the pain of returning to work :)

I also really liked this little sign. Random, but great.

Happy freakin weekend, friends! I hope you have a great one!!!
