NYC-Doughnut Plant (Boo!) and Baked (Yay!)

We wanted to get up early so we could get to The Doughnut Plant when they opened to 1. Beat the crowds and 2. Get our hands on some poppin' fresh doughnuts that I had heard so much about. However, getting up at 7:00 AM for doughnuts always sounds good the night before you actually have to get up, so the morning of, we decided to sleep in and just go whenever we got up. And since we were staying in the Upper East Side and this place was close to Chinatown, a subway trip was in order. So, after riding the subway and then walking about 12 blocks, we finally found The Doughnut Plant around 11:00 AM and were welcomed by silver bars and this sign.

What a huge BUMMER!!! I even checked their website before we left to make sure they would be open and there was nothing saying that they would be closed! Ugh, I was so sad.

However, since I am a fat girl stuck in a skinny girl's body, I was determined to not end the day without going to at least ONE bakery!!! Hellloooo BAKED!!!

We decided to just go ahead and jump back on the subway and take it down to Brooklyn and I'm SO glad we did. This was the bakery that I was most excited about visiting by far! I've been a little obsessed with their recipe book for quite a while, so being at this bakery was equivalent to seeing a celebrity for me :)

Inside Baked!

Where they create the delicious goodness...

Cupcakes!!! So good!

Bars, brownies, mini pies, and sandwiches!

So content :) I LOVED this place.

We took the Water Taxi back to Manhattan after leaving Baked in Brooklyn. So fun!

Cool picture from Hudson Bay!

Back at the hotel, I couldn't wait to bust these babies out! Clockwise : Sweet & Salty Cupcake, Lemon Drop Cupcake, Sweet & Salty Brownie, Brewer's Blondie, and the S'more Nut Bar. All of these were INSANELY delicious. Good thing I picked this up before we left the bakery...

Woohoo!!! FINALLY! I was SO excited to get my sugary paws on this recipe book. I have been wanting it for about a year now but just never broke down and bought it. But I'm so glad that I waited to buy it at the bakery because I found this inside...

An autographed copy! Renato and Matt are the owners of Baked!

Yessssss!!!!! Be looking for posts from this recipe book! Many to come! :)

  1. Hudson Bay is that gigantic bay up in Canada. I think you meant New York Harbor :)
